WoW: Battle for Azeroth in review: DX11 vs. DX12 and AMD vs. NVIDIA

Benchmarks in 1080p

Let's get to the interesting: We want to find out how high the performance of our three graphics cards in Full HD is when we go through our test scenario with maximum graphics details (but still without HBAO+ and with level 9 limited environmental details) Expire. This time we did the tests with and without SMT as well as with both APIs (DirectX 11 and DirectX 12).

Without SMT, the performance in DirectX 11 with GeForce and Vega 64 is the same or slightly better. On the contrary, the performance in DirectX 12 with maps based on the Polaris architecture is at least equal or even slightly better! On the other hand, the frametime in DirectX 12 is more stable at any time. The RX560 barely achieves a stable frame rate of over 30 fps. The Vega 64 LE can compete with the GTX 1060 6G.

A similar picture emerges with the SMT activated – with the exception of the Vega 64 – which now performs better in DirectX 12 than the other two cards. The difference between the two cards and the RX560 is too small to be really significant.
