Please disregard the superglue remnants around the drill holes – these are the last remnants from the first idea, but I canceled it before execution. I wanted to glue M2.5 nuts behind the holes to screw the whole thing on. Only if one of the nuts had then been whistled off there, you wouldn’t have been able to get the cooler off the card. Congratulations. In the end, I decided to use the “stud” method. The whole thing was realized with hardened V2a M2.5 screws (M2.5×10 Allen flat head screws) and underlaid with V2a washers in 0.5 mm thickness and tightened to 1 Nm (!) tightening torque.
Yes, that’s a lot and it’s hard at the limit or possibly already slightly above it…. Therefore, it is or was important to me to test the whole thing for tensile strength BEFORE assembly, because these “lock nuts” of the stud bolts have to withstand considerable thermal differences as well as the later tightening of the GPU pressure nuts without becoming loose. Therefore, it is also important to have MORE tightening torque there than is later used for the GPU press-on nuts, otherwise the stud bolts might loosen during a possible later disassembly of these then with – very bad.
