Commissioning
Not much has changed at this point, apart from the number of drives that can be installed.
I still like the design with the numbered bays, even though I can probably just about count to 6 myself.
With 3.5″ hard disks, you simply pull open a mechanism on the side, insert the disk and then push everything back together again.
However, if you install a 2.5″ SSD, for example, you have to use a screwdriver to unscrew one of the side brackets from the thread and put it to one side. The data carrier can then be fixed in place with four screws on the underside.
The SSDs are installed in the two M.2 slots with a small screw, just like on a PC. They are then connected to the removable cover with the extra-thick thermal pad for some passive cooling.
But now enough hardware, we are ready to go and we can start with the setup. Ugreen also provides a web application at find.ugnas.com, which can locate the NAS in your local network. If this does not work, there is also software to download or you can simply check the router yourself.
The first step is to specify the host name and the desired user name and password.
Optionally, you can also link the NAS directly to a Ugreen Cloud account.
Finally, you can select how updates should be handled and whether anonymous diagnostic data should be shared with Ugreen.
