Summary
The Dell Alienware AW2725DF is an impressive gaming monitor that impresses with a variety of features and very good performance. With its high refresh rate of 360 Hz and extremely low latency, it offers an incredibly smooth display, which is a great advantage for eSports games in particular. The QHD resolution ensures razor-sharp images and the QD OLED panel creates an intense visual experience – even in SDR. The monitor also supports Adaptive-Sync, which means that the monitor is capable of both NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync. This effectively minimizes tearing and stuttering.
Another highlight of the AW2725DF is the high-quality Samsung QD-OLED panel, which Dell has given outstanding color accuracy in SDR (sRGB and P3) and offers wide viewing angles. This makes the monitor ideal not only for gaming, but also for creative work such as graphic design and video editing. Which you can certainly do with an OLED, after all there is a 3-year guarantee including burn-in.
The design of the monitor is typical of the Alienware series – and the workmanship is high quality. To summarize, the Dell Alienware AW2725DF is an outstanding monitor that impresses with its good factory calibration, picture quality and very good HDR experience. It offers everything you can expect from a modern gaming monitor and sets standards in some areas.
Conclusion
Apart from the small things I mentioned, the Dell Alienware AW2725DF completely convinced me. Is it still down to the price, or not? The AW2725DF currently costs “only” 889 euros. This makes it almost 100 euros cheaper than its direct competitor from MSI. And, brace yourselves: the ASUS ROG Swift PG27AQN costs a whopping 1,118 euros. There is no real HDR and ULMB 2 alone does not justify such prices at all. Especially if you use OLED as a benchmark here.
The Dell Alienware AW2725DF is a serious HDR eSports weapon for the current price, which also enables productive work in three color spaces. The bottom line – in my opinion – is that it’s the best the market has to offer for demanding gamers. For this reason, the AW2725DF gets a clear buy recommendation from me. If you have the necessary budget, you should put this monitor at the top of your shopping list.
Note: The Dell Alienware AW2725DF was tested with the currently available firmware M3B103. (as of June 2024)
The monitor was provided to me by Dell without obligation – for testing purposes. There was no influence on the tests and results. There was also no compensation for expenses and no obligation to publish by Dell or anyone else.
