Summary
The Cooler Master GA271 comes with a 1440p VA panel and 100 Hz refresh rate. The slight ghosting artifacts are due to the rather slow pixel response time. In the end, this is not really extremely disturbing in Overdrive Normal. It depends on individual perception. The latencies don’t break any records, but for gaming beginners and casual gamers this is completely sufficient.
The color performance is only sufficient for sRGB, but the performance is really good – measured against the Delta E. The brightness is also usable and 50 nits above Cooler Master’s specification. You shouldn’t expect miracles in all areas. On the other hand, the GA271 didn’t disappoint me, I was even surprised. At over 5000:1, the contrast is even well above the manufacturer’s specification.
The workmanship is ok, even if the GA271 doesn’t really have anything to offer in terms of ergonomics and the stand is a bit wobbly. In my opinion, savings have been made in the right place. Because the VA panel can convince me for the RRP. The street price according to Geizhals is currently 156.90 euros.
Conclusion
The Cooler Master GA271 somehow comes across honestly to me. No completely exaggerated specifications in the data sheet, if you don’t consider the one millisecond MPRT. I can understand why HDR 10 is advertised for marketing reasons. After all, that’s what everyone does. The GA271 can’t display HDR, it doesn’t even have the completely worthless HDR-400 sticker. In the end, Cooler Master saved itself the money – sensibly.
The GA271 is definitely something for thrifty people looking for 1440p. It can also be used as a second monitor in a setup or as a home office monitor. After all, the monitor only needs around 25 watts. In this price range, you can usually only find 24 inch monitors with 1080p resolution. For this reason, the Cooler Master GA271 also gets a price/performance recommendation from me.
The compromises you have to make due to the low price are acceptable. In the end, the most important thing is always the display and that has delivered. That’s all for today. The MSI 34-inch QD-OLED is waiting for me. Stay tuned…
The monitor was provided to me by Cooler Master without obligation – for testing purposes. There was no influence on the tests and results. There was also no compensation for expenses and no obligation to publish.
