Workmanship and maneuverability
After unpacking comes the assembly. This is quick and it immediately becomes clear where Cooler Master has put the red pencil. In terms of ergonomics, you only have to get to grips with tilting. Or get yourself a Vesa mount. The stand isn’t the best either. The monitor can start to wobble significantly if you bang it against the table. The rest of the workmanship is ok, I’m rather reserved when it comes to design, but that’s for everyone to decide.
Connections, cables and accessories
Overwhelming and yet useful! One DisplayPort 1.4, one 3.5 jack for the headphones and 2x HDMI. The scope of delivery includes an HDMI cable and the external power supply unit. Important: if you want to use 10 bit (8 bit FRC), you should get a DisplayPort cable. Only 8 bit is possible via HDMI. The 100 Hz refresh rate can be used via both DP and HDMI. G-Sync and FreeSync compatibility are also available.
OSD menu
The OSD offers everything you need, even crosshairs and other things like HDR. Really? HDR without local dimming? Exactly, we’ll forget the whole thing again very quickly. It’s nice if the GA271 can even process an HDR 10 signal, but then it fails when it comes to the display. What can you expect in terms of HDR performance for 160 euros? Exactly – none.
