In the meantime, I have become a convinced Ultrawide gamer myself. I’m even no longer so prejudiced against the topic of Curved. Therefore, the ASUS ROG Strix XG349C fits quite well into my test program. I can understand that Ultrawide and Curved are not for everyone. But as we all know, thinking outside the box is supposed to broaden your horizons. So, we take a detailed look at the good piece of monitor technology from ASUS and especially measure it.
The packaging is very much in the style of ASUS ROG – recognition value and all. Well protected, the monitor arrives at your home and is also set up quite quickly. This does not require any instruction pictures from me. You can do it. What is hidden behind the display? A 1900R Curved IPS panel with RGB subpixel layout. Probably from LG or AU-Optronics. (I’m just guessing at this point) ASUS wouldn’t tell me the manufacturer. Due to possible supply bottlenecks, the supplier is more or less left open. The main thing is that the specifications are met. This is common practice and not a big deal.
You can find the technical specifications in the attached PDF or you can take a look at the ASUS ROG page. (Click here!)

That reads quite promisingly. Now, before I go into detail, we need to talk about the price. The RRP is 1,399 Euros. I hope it hasn’t knocked the batteries out of your pacemaker. About a year ago – no, more like two years ago – I would have said, okay: What does the market say? That would still have fit. But 2022? Where you can already get OLED monitors or LCD panels with full array local dimming including mini LEDs for the money. Quasi real HDR hardware, which the XG349C unfortunately does not have to offer at all. Difficult! But the topic of price comes up again at the very end.
The ASUS ROG Strix XG349C Da Vinci Code
