Let’s now move on to a direct comparison with the other 2 TB SSDs from Corsair, Netac and HP in the real life of a workstation. The following benchmarks show very clearly that the TeamGroup MP44 from 2024 and the MP600 Elite are not only both well positioned in the middle of the tested models, but also perform absolutely the same within the measurement tolerances. However, the slight advantage of the slightly larger pSLC cache is completely lost in the background noise.
Reading is very similar, apart from exceptions such as NAMD, and there are hardly any measurable differences between the two clone sheep, how could there be? When reading, the cache doesn’t really matter anyway and the value from Aja is confirmed once again, because theory and practice unfortunately don’t go hand in hand here.
Yes, the performance is also completely sufficient and identical for applications. And so you really have to consider whether you really feel it subjectively and whether it noticeably increases productivity in individual cases. However, this also proves that the proud 40 euro surcharge for the Corsair SSD compared to an MP44 is not worth it at all. In the end, the MP600 Elite should only cost around 140 euros, just like the MP44.
Summary and conclusion
I really can’t say what TeamGroup did to risk a potential downgrade with the other concept (Phison, Kioxia NAND). Whether the OEM has arbitrarily put something different into the completely unchanged packaging or whether TeamGroup has simply changed the content without adapting the data is of course not something I can write and evaluate from here. But the fact is that TeamGroup is selling an SSD with incorrect technical data, which is absolutely misleading for the customer, especially as all other reviews also refer to the old version. Either you rename the SSD, or you visibly switch to a new revision and also adapt the packaging, website and store presence.
I also feel deceived, although TeamGroup should have known that I would notice and publish something like this. This reinforces my belief that they will be just as surprised as I was when I took the part apart. TeamGroup received an email from me in advance with the table and pictures of page one and it will be interesting to see how they react. For my part, like the Corsair MP600 Elite, I can’t give the SSD a buy recommendation because the pSLC cache is simply far too small and I won’t reward such brazen deceptive maneuvers.
Let’s put it this way: For the price of just under 140 euros, the price is still quite good, but you are definitely obliged to honestly disclose the true specifications of the product.
The test sample was provided by TeamGroup on a non-binding loan basis. There was and is no influence on the tests and results. There was also no compensation for expenses and no obligation to publish.
