Optics and haptics
Unilluminated, the GK650K looks almost plain. Apart from the volume control and the macro button to the right of the space bar, there are no deviations from the standard full-size layout. The keyboard’s aluminum top plate has been well matched in color to the rest and lends a lot of stability.
The plastic underside offers a lot more to see. Three ways to route the USB cable, four large rubber pads on the corners of the keyboard and four stands in different sizes and heights. The aforementioned keycap pully now also shows up here. The tray even has six rubber pads!
In the view from the front, you can also see the three outlets for the USB cable. My copy here has a small blemish in the form of a silver dot where a piece of the coating paint appears to have chipped off.
The GK650K already offers a considerable angle even without the feet set up, so there is no question of a low profile here.
With the interlocking feet, this angle can then be increased a bit more. Thanks to wide rubber pads at the ends, there is no need to compromise on slip resistance.
Apart from the silver dot, the keyboard is adequately finished for the price. Residues from production are visible on the side of the keycaps facing away from the user, but this is not a big deal due to the position. There is a picture of this on the next page. The stability is excellent; even angled, the GK650K does not give in under pressure.
