Assembly
Assembly was child’s play. Including photo documentation, the assembly took less than half an hour and could be carried out alone without any problems thanks to the assembly aid on the backrest.
Since I have already assembled several gaming chairs, I only loosely followed the assembly instructions. My first step is always to mount the casters to the base.
The massive rocker mechanism was quickly fixed to the substructure of the seat thanks to the preconfigured screws.
The fact that they levers for the rocker mechanism are even color-coded for easier assembly didn’t surprise me anymore either, due to the generally well thought-out concept.
Next, the gas spring is pushed into the rocker mechanism. Don’t forget the dust cap, because once the spring is pressed in, you can’t get it out that easily!
If everything sits straight, you can carefully put on the base, check it once again and then press it down slightly. The rest will take care of itself later when you sit down on the chair for the first time.
Once the basic construction is finished, the only thing left to do is to attach the backrest. SecretLab has also put a lot of thought into this. The mechanism for adjusting the backrest is under tension and can “snap back” very quickly without the weight of the backrest. To prevent injuries, the mechanism is equipped with a lock that should only be removed after the backrest has been mounted.
The backrest itself has a guide on one side, which allows 1-man assembly.
To do this, simply slide the backrest over the mechanism locked by the red safety catch.
This prevents the backrest from slipping on this side, while the screws can be screwed in on the other side.
Finally, the magnetic covers to hide the screws on it and ready.
Not quite yet, first the magnetic covers of the armrests have to be attached
And the icing on the cake: The also magnetic headrest in the form of a memory foam cushion:
Ready assembled TITAN Evo
Comparison with Vertagear PL6000
Comparison with Recaro RAE Essential
A direct comparison shows just how monstrous the XL version of the TITAN Evo is. In contrast, the actually already generous Vertagear PL6000 looks slim and the Recaro almost filigree.
