I can say one thing in advance. Cyberpunk 2077 is still running as a beta via exclusive access regarding DLSS 3.0. Therefore, I could not test FSR 2.1 in conjunction with FG, unfortunately. And DLSS 3.0 I will not look at again graphically until it is officially available in CP2077. If you still want to get a first impression – also in terms of FSR 1.0 vs. DLSS, you can take a look at my article about the launch of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 FE.
RTX 4080 CPU limit in 2160p?
Can the Palit GeForce RTX 4080 GameRock 16 GB bring the i9-12900K to its knees in UHD? Let’s take a look. I tested in the same place as with the GeForce RTX 4090, here is my test scene again:
Settings
I just let the scene run statically for a few seconds and log the data. The graphical settings remain unchanged – only the upscaling methods DLSS and FSR 2.1 as well as FG in combination with DLSS are added.
Average FPS
DLSS 3.0 is better than native 2160p by a factor of 5.09 with FG and Ultra Performance. Impressive! (152.3 / 29.9 = 5.09)
Interesting to see that with FSR 2.1 you can almost approach the performance of DLSS with FG on. (the increase factor is 4.14). I would not recommend FSR or DLSS Ultra Performance. Both lose considerably in terms of graphic details and general image stability (AA shimmer) compared to the Performance level. But as I said, I’ll take another look at that when DLSS 3.0 officially makes its way into the game from beta.
Frame Times, Variances and Percentiles
Latencies
Attention: Unfortunately, the latencies cannot yet be recorded with FSR (for whatever reason). But you can be sure that the latencies with FSR 2.1 are on the same level as with DLSS 2.3, that can be seen from the FPS and the frame times!
Regarding the latencies, I can state that, as with the GeForce RTX 4090, the native frames look much better with DLSS. The interframe calculation simply costs time, even if the latencies are better in the end with FG on or on the same level as with Reflex deactivated. Please understand me correctly here: The latencies are not bad in any way with FG on, it’s all playable (exception 2160p native). I don’t want to play a game with 30 FPS and sometimes less.
