Performance
On my main machine, equipped with a Ryzen 7 5800X, 16GB DDR4 3600 RAM with optimized timings and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, the game runs buttery smooth in all resolutions and on the big TV, even in 4K, 120 FPS is almost constant, which corresponds to the maximum refresh rate of the panel. So, because the game is rather frugal, I ran my test scene on three different configurations.
Test systems
Settings
I tested with the maximum graphics settings in the three most common resolutions.
Performance
None of the test systems had problems in 1080p and easily generated triple-digit FPS.
Even in 1440p, the aged GTX 970 is still sufficient for a smooth 60 FPS experience.
In 4K, however, the old sweetheart only produces a “console-like” 30 FPS. Even the significantly faster RX 6600 fails to reach the magic 60-point barrier, but thanks to Freesync, the gaming experience is just alright.
Basically, the game is very frugal and runs, especially in 1080p, even on older systems without problems. Every now and then there is a small hiccup when activating a runestone, but you should also remember that this is an older DX11 version of the Unreal Engine and you can’t assume elaborate optimization in a 1-man project.
