Sound Check
Now we come to the most important part of this test – the sound check. As always, I tested the microphone in various scenarios and made corresponding recordings. In this case, not the pictures but the recordings say more than 1000 words, but make up your own mind.

Headset comparison
Finally, the obligatory comparison with a gaming headset to show the qualitative differences here.

Interim summary
I was pretty excited about the “direct” shot in particular. Apart from an inaudible background noise, the recording quality is pretty close to the larger models and leaves all the “gaming junk” (especially headsets) light years behind. The voice is recorded clearly and above all also very “naturally” – according to my Discord colleagues, the recording comes closest to my “live voice” of all the microphones used so far. Personally, I would have liked it better if my voice sounded as warm and voluminous as in the recordings with the Elgato or Maono microphone, but it’s hard to judge that for yourself.
Overall, a very solid performance, and considering the price, the noise floor is just okay for me.
Software
Normally the topic “software” always fills a whole page and although I could rant about the disproportionately overloaded software package again, we can save the whole topic completely at this point. The otherwise very extensive NZXT CAM software provides exactly the same functionality for the Capsule Mini as shown in the following screenshot:
Whether an equalizer for the headphone output or other functions will be implemented later is not foreseeable.
