Test methodology and benchmark runs
As with the last Overwatch article, I’d like to briefly show you how and where I did my comparisons. On the multiplayer map Hackney Yard (private game) I first tested both cards in a small benchmark run in the lowest and highest settings. First of all, this should show us who is basically the top dog here. For a better understanding I made a short video for you, so that you can classify the benchmark run.
To illustrate the graphics settings I also made two short videos. Here are the low settings using the RTX 3060 Ti as an example.
And here are the max settings.
Both cards had to endure benchmark runs as well as latency measurements under these settings. Yes, both cards also had DXR enabled. Quasi NVIDIA’s own playground for beautiful dying. Then let’s take a look at how the pure raw power of the two cards was burned onto the monitor here.
Well, looky here… The brute raw performance of the AMD RX 6700 XT gives the NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti a run for its money. Even in NVIDIA’s ray tracing playground, AMD is stealing the sausage off NVIDIA’s plate here. Interesting! Of course I still have some detailed slides, so I don’t want to hide them from you.
Especially with the frame times and variances AMD pulls up and away. This round goes to AMD! Let’s see how the latencies develop in the further course here if necessary still in favor of NVIDIA or whether there is a surprise today.
