Software
The already known MSI Center is used as the control center for the Vigor GK71. For me, this is bloatware, hopelessly overloaded, totally jagged, and in the end doesn’t even reach the feature set of most China tools.
Basically, you need a separate tool for practically every topic (hardware, lighting, …), which is why you need to install at least “Gaming Gear” and “Mystic Light”. That’s where you miss the first time.
“Gaming Gear”
If the name of this tool makes you think of gears and the associated setting options, I’m afraid I have to disappoint you. I rather think of jammed gears, because apart from editing/saving the three profiles that can be stored on the device, i.e. the 30 key assignments or macros that can be configured per profile, you cannot make any other settings here. No polling rate, no keyboard layout, just yawning emptiness.
“Mystic Light”
To adjust the lighting you get Mystic Light. Why you can’t select the very well illuminated media keys or the indicator LEDs (NUM Lock etc.) remains a mystery. You can choose between a handful of unimportant and much too fast RGB effects, or the “per button” selection, where you can’t set any other effects except for the color, and you can’t even set all buttons. The whole software is a disappointment, especially with regard to the ClearCaps, more could have been done.
