Conclusion
The main findings from the practical test I had already written down there in the interim summary and in order not to repeat myself, I will only draw the conclusions from these findings again here.
For the price of $64.99 (Kailh red/blue) or $74.99 (Kailh Box white), the GK50 ELITE TKL is quite acceptable, because the looks are convincing and the keyboard is not a total failure in terms of quality. However, it has to be said that the similarly priced Sharkoon SGK50 S4 has more to offer technically. Among other things, the significantly better damping, the higher weight in relation to the size and the exchangeable switches should be mentioned. All features that the GK50 ELITE TKL does not offer.
Unfortunately, the software is and remains a total failure from my point of view and has to get in the way of other RGB programs to top it all off. Thus, the broken software (from version to version) prevents the start of iCUE at boot, but hijacks (despite disabled option) half of the connected Corsair devices, recognizes even in the current version the now 2 year old Corsair M65 RGB Ultra still wrong and then apparently out of spite simply disables their lighting. I am thrilled! Perhaps MSI should rather hand over the complete software story to the Russian colleague who is also responsible for the Afterburner. At the end of the day, I am even less annoyed about the x-minute “Wait a minute!” splash screen of the screwed-up Gigabyte software.
On the other hand, the MSI keyboard can shine with a more appealing look and a format (except for the missing number pad, of course) that is strongly oriented towards the standard layout and can be used in productive use without a big adaptation phase or annoying double assignments (FN key).
The keyboard was provided by MSI for this test. The only condition was compliance with the lock period, no influence or compensation took place.
