Pixel response times
We are dealing with an office monitor, so this will not be a surprise now. We only check whether the manufacturer’s specification of 4 ms is correct. You will be able to gamble with the MD272QP, but you won’t break any records in terms of pixel response times.
Overdrive Normal
Overdrive Fast
Overdrive Faster
The best overdrive is Fast, where the ratio between overshoot and response time is still ok. However, one should not only look at the average values. The peaks turn out to be very high. You can see slight inverse ghosting, but it is not totally disturbing yet. Why do you see this at all? Because the refresh rate of 75 / 60 Hz displays each image for 13 – 16 ms, you can see every little pixel mess. Since the MD272QP supports FreeSync, we’ll take a look at the variable overdrive in the Fast setting at 60 FPS.
Variable Overdrive @ 60 Hz
The response times remain almost unchanged, but overshoot becomes a bit clearer – thus, unfortunately, a bit more inverse ghosting is visible. It’s not a gaming monitor, so no gaming rating here. That would not be fair. But it is also a fact that the monitor does not manage the 4 ms response time according to MSI in the end. The best response times are below the specified 4 ms, but we only average 5.3 ms in the best case. However, I wouldn’t even use the Overdrive Faster for work.
