More power, more efficiency: Intel announces new details on Lunar Lake

AI is changing the world and plays a role in an infinite number of areas of life. It is almost impossible to imagine the world of hardware without it and it is constantly evolving. We also have to evolve ourselves, which is why Intel is presenting a new solution or option for this.

Intel announced new details about its upcoming Lunar Lake at this year’s Computex. The company is promising a lot – more power, more efficiency and, above all, more performance. An innovation that should amaze everyone. Says Intel.

The company expects 80% of PCs to be AI PCs by 2028. That is the forecast. The Lake Lunar is designed to support this development and presents the technical details of its Lunar Lake. Let’s go into more detail.

According to this, there are new performance cores and efficiency cores that ensure improvements in performance and energy efficiency. In addition, up to 120 AI TOPs can be achieved. A fourth-generation Intel NPU has also been implemented, which enables AI performance of up to 48 tera operations per second. This NPU also enables 4x AI computing power and improvements for generative AI. Up to 32 GB of memory is possible.

Thunderbolt 4 is also implemented. There is also a completely new GPU design, known as Battlemage, which features two XE2 GPU cores for graphics and Xe MAtrix extension arrays for AI. The former is said to improve game and graphics performance by 1.5 times over the previous generation, while the latter enables performance of up to 67 TOPS for AI content creation throughput. The so-called low-power island, a type of compute cluster that performs background and productivity tasks with external efficiency and is also said to increase battery life many times over.
