Summary
Monitor calibration is always important and useful when you want to see colors as they are intended. Games, websites and e.g. YouTube run in the sRGB color space. Movies currently play in DCI-P3 color space, but Rec.2020 will soon be the new standard (replacing DCI-P3 and Rec.709). If you edit your images with Adobe Photoshop, you can’t avoid the AdobeRGB color space. Now you just need a monitor – which can do everything…
Many gamers may see it differently, because here there are the wildest color settings and other tricks to win in the end. You also have to remember that everyone likes to set their display the way they like it. Accuracy or not. (My LG OLED C1 always runs in Vivid mode. Yes I know, shame on me!)
How to calibrate your monitor (also applies to laptops and other devices) is something we took a quick look at today. The SpyderX Elite offers the full scope from Datacolor when it comes to making maximum use of the software’s capabilities. Link to this:
Conclusion
You get a simple colorimeter with a good software set. And all that at a fair street price of about €160. The calibration results are really impressive and are more than sufficient for home use. If the software is not enough, you can use the free software DisplayCal, which is compatible with the SpyderX. Another plus. The SpyderX Elite gets a clear buy recommendation from my side!

Currently I am working on a resourceful solution to measure the input lag of monitors. As already mentioned, understand today’s article as a part of the series on the subject of monitors. My heart topic! And I think that one or the other will learn something at the end and we will get into the discussion together. Then feel free to let me know if you want to read more of it…. See you in the forum!
The entire test system, the monitor and the SpyderX Elite were purchased by us. There was no influence on the part of the manufacturers, as well as… 🙂
