The current Uni Fan SL120 RGB from Lian Li have triggered a certain hype in the community thanks to the used daisy chain, so that we were asked again and again for a review. However, if Caseking hadn’t provided us with the test samples upon request in an uncomplicated manner, I would have bought them, because, as always, the community’s wish is also our command. Either way, today’s review will, as always, be objective and fair in determining whether the hype is justified, or whether there was simply some grandiose marketing at work here.
With a little over 24 Euro for a single fan and just under 80 Euro for the three-pack (with a matching controller/hub), the price is already in the upper class and practically on the level of a Noiseblocker BP12x-PS-BL PWM ARGB from Blacknoise, which is known for throughput and running culture. So the price is already a self-confident announcement, whereby the omission of cables when mounting on a radiator by the daisy-chain is of course also visually a strong argument. Click and ready, it doesn’t get any nicer than that.
The black frame is quite plain, but has a useful decoupling and for the optics a cleanly inserted translucent RGB ring for aRGB. The rotor is kept neutral black and unlit. The fan relies on a hydrodynamic plain bearing (FDB), which is also to be expected in this price range and did not leave a bad impression. However, I will have various comments later on the engine noises, which occur independently of the bearing.
The weight of 232 grams is not bad at all, but might also be at the expense of an installed magnetic ring. With the specified 2-year warranty, one does the legislator certainly enough, but unfortunately not more, especially since after 6 months anyway the reversal of the burden of proof begins. Here, other providers are now much more accommodating.

On the next page you will first see how and what we test and why. Understanding the details is extremely important in order to be able to objectively classify the results later. The differences between many models are more in the details and THE best fan for all situations can hardly exist. There is a certain optimum in every situation and of course there are also good all-rounders. But they usually have their price. But if you plan to use 60mm radiators for example, you might save money by choosing the best model for your application, which might not perform so well as a case fan. And vise versa, of course.
For the new ones I also have the original data sheet as PDF at hand:
