We have been testing various mini PCs and barebones for quite some time now, but a model from the manufacturer that practically invented and popularized this segment has been missing until now. We’re making up for that today and can say goodbye in the same breath, because there will be no more “original” Intel NUCs. At least they won ‘t die outafter the takeover by Asus, so we can look forward to more models in the spirit of the inventors in the future.
Packaging and scope of delivery
Contrary to the usual designs, there is no product image on the front, just a large lettering with the product family. In the small bottom corner, we can also see which version it is.
On the sides, however, we can already catch a glimpse of the contents, and further key data is also listed there. Apart from a few stickers and disclaimers, the back doesn’t have much to offer.
If you remove the outer packaging, the NUC is presented to us on a small pedestal. At the same time, the firm foam provides some cushioning on the way to us.
The supplied accessories include a metal plate, which can also be mounted on the wall or the VESA holes behind the monitor. Apart from that, only a relatively large 120 watt power supply unit from HuntKey, model HKA12019063-6C, is included.
Specifications
At this point I would have liked to link to the manufacturer’s very extensive and detailed ARK product page, but it was simply taken offline while I was writing this article. And I couldn’t find a corresponding entry at Asus. So the overview from an older press release will have to suffice for now.
