Intel announces updates to the next-gen Core Ultra Series 2 for October 29: Arc Battlemage coming soon?

Intel will present updates on its upcoming Core Ultra Series 2 mobile and graphics products at its Partner Alliance BaseCamp event on October 29. The event is aimed at partners and is intended to provide an overview of the company’s latest technologies. The main focus will be on client products, such as the Core Ultra CPUs and associated graphics units. It is expected that Intel could also provide insights into the next generation of its Arc graphics processors, possibly under the name Arc Battlemage. So far, Intel’s Arc graphics line is based on the first generation of the Xe architecture, known as “Alchemist”. This product line is aimed at various target groups, including gamers and professional users. Rumors suggest that the next generation, which will be based on the new Xe2 architecture, could be released by the end of 2024. The upcoming event could provide the first glimpse of this new product series.

In addition to the graphics units, Intel will also talk about its new Gaudi 3 AI accelerator at the event, which has been specially developed for use in the AI sector. The Gaudi 3 is designed to be a more cost-effective alternative to other products on the market while offering improved performance. This area is of strategic importance to Intel as the demand for AI accelerators continues to grow in various industries. Another topic at the event will be the Core Ultra Series 2 mobile and desktop processors. Intel has already announced the Core Ultra 200S processors, which are scheduled for release on October 24. However, the focus of the event is likely to be on the Core Ultra Series 2 laptop processors, including the Arrow Lake-HX and Arrow Lake-H variants. These processors are specially designed for mobile devices and are intended to improve the performance of laptops in various application areas.

New GPUs from NVIDIA and AMD will also be launched on the market next year. These products could be used in future laptops from OEMs such as ASUS, MSI and Dell. It will therefore be crucial for Intel to remain competitive with the next generation of arc graphics solutions. The Xe2 architecture, which is already used in the Lunar Lake SoCs, could represent a further development compared to the current Arc A series and could therefore be of interest to the desktop market. As part of the BaseCamp event, Intel will provide insights into the further developments of its products, particularly in the area of mobile and desktop CPUs as well as graphics solutions. It remains to be seen what specific innovations and advances the company will unveil and how these will impact the mobile and desktop graphics market.
