Summary and conclusion
First of all, let’s take a quick look at the gameplay itself, because of course it’s not for nothing that the game has already received excellent reviews on the Playstation. The staging is really well done, God of War plays like a fantasy movie for long stretches. At times you completely lose sight of the fact that you are playing a hack and slay title. The small puzzles and the story-telling cutscenes fit seamlessly into the gameplay and there are neither loading times nor unnecessary interruptions of the game flow. Sure, the graphics show the limits of the last console generation, but at the end of the day the game still looks great, especially with the possibilities of the PC.
Overall, I liked the first quarter of the game so much that I can definitely recommend it purely in terms of gameplay.
From a technical point of view, I would also call it a successful “port”. As mentioned above, the game can still be played smoothly with passable graphics even on fairly old hardware. With a fast graphics card of the last or current generation, the graphical quality will surpass the console version in official style.
In the end, the almost perfect integration of Nvidia’s DLSS technology is not completely uninvolved, which can outshine FSR quite a bit in terms of picture quality in this specific game.
