Topology and Teardown
The platform looks similar to the previous Hydro G Pro units, with some modifications to meet ATX v3.0 and PCIe 5.0 requirements. FSP has used high quality parts, including Japanese capacitors on the primary and secondary sides and a high quality fan from Protechnic Electric. The PCB finish doesn’t look as good in some areas, and I also found some longer than optimal component cables, but these won’t cause any problems.
On the primary side we find a half-bridge topology and an LLC resonant converter, while on the secondary side FSP has followed the typical recipe: synchronous rectification for 12V and a pair of DC-DC converters for the side rails. There is also a dedicated fan controller, an APW9010 IC. The bulk cap in this power supply has server-grade specifications with a rated voltage of 450V and a lifetime of 3000h @ 105°C. Most power supplies use 2000h @ 105°C bulk caps with lower voltage ratings, 400V or 420V.
