At the heart of the entire production is the so-called SMT process (Surface Mount Technology), i.e. surface assembly, where most of the components find their way onto the boards. But just starting out isn't just getting started, it includes first of all demand determination ("forecast"), ordering and purchasing, warehousing and of course also the quality checks when goods are received.
The so-called SMD components are, as the name Surface Mounted Device (surface-mounted component) says, lived directly onto the board without soldering flags or wires and then finally soldered in a first soldering process. But I come to these steps in a moment, because first the components have to come into the suitable belts, which are rolled up and serve as a magazine.
On this occasion, the machine is counted again.
Note also the color variance of the work clothes. Controllers and watchdogs are usually beigely dressed in PC partners. The assembly line workers, foreman and THE QC can be found in light blue and security in mouse-grey coats. There is also a military-style system of armbands for foreman, control of all kinds and the QC (quality control).
All processes in the SMT that we see on the next page are also statistically recorded and evaluated. You can already see here which components could become scarce and where, if necessary, corrective action must be taken. Many manufacturers also have engineers on site in this department, who supervise and supervise the technical processes in the machinery. There is also a direct line to the purchase and warehouse.
And now we can start production. On the next page.
