(Non) Software
If you are expecting extensive software for programming keys and macros, you will most likely be disappointed right away. In fact, there is only a firmware update from Ducky, which I probably don’t need to write anything else about.
Configuration
Everything that can be set on the keyboard – and that’s not even a little – is realized via keyboard shortcuts. Without the manual linked on page 2, you’re really screwed here. Of course, we can skip all the lighting modes that are configurable in the LED and RGB models of the Ducky ONE 2 at this point today. Nevertheless, I would like to introduce a few functions and briefly outline the configuration.
For example, holding down the FN key + Alt + Windows key can lock the latter so that it does not become the desktop when accidentally triggered from an important match.
Also practical: The mouse function (cursor movement + mouse buttons + scroll wheel) can be moved to the keyboard. Thus, the ONE 2 can be equipped with a kind of “touchpad”, which is incredibly practical for use on the TV, among other things.
The whole thing becomes somewhat confusing when it comes to recording markos. In addition to the standard profile, five other profiles can be created, each with individual macros. Unfortunately, I could not find out how many macros can be created and what restrictions there are in any product description or user manual.
To conclude this page, here’s a fair amount of nerd stuff. Remember the DIP switches I teased earlier in the report?
The various combinations of the first three switches can be used to move the position of the FN key on the keyboard (of course, the keycap has to be changed), while the fourth switch can be used to switch between 6-key rollover and N-key rollover mode.
All in all, this may seem a bit complicated, but it actually has a decisive advantage: All settings can be configured completely independently of the operating system used and do not require any additional software.
