Power consumption and efficiency during gaming
There is a striking difference in drinking behavior between both new CPUs and the X models. If you need the Ryzen 9 7900 for work and only want to play games now and then, you can simply switch off 8 cores in higher resolutions if you want to save even more. Then he has the choice of both: compute until the doctor comes and a rather efficient gaming experience. However, both at the same time and without intervention is not possible (yet). The Ryzen 5 7600 is the new economy model of the winter season.
Let’s now look at the efficiency already briefly mentioned. The Ryzen 7 7600 is significantly more frugal than the rest in all resolutions, especially under load, and even better than the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which has been the best feeder in gaming so far. The Ryzen 9 7900 still performs quite respectably within its clock rate.
Power consumption and efficiency in mixed workloads
This is where AutoCAD comes in handy, because there are no performance-hungry rendering interludes. The CPU load is usually below 70 percent, often enough even much lower, which reflects the normal workday quite well. In addition, the Cadalyst run is quite consistent, also in terms of power consumption on systems with different speeds. The Ryzen 7 7700X requires significantly less power than the Ryzen 9 7950X with similar overall performance, but all Zen 4 CPUs are still slightly less thirsty than their direct predecessors.
Now you can put the score in relation to the power consumption to show the efficiency. The new CPUs have an advantage here, and if you take all applications in these load ranges as a guideline, then you really have to compliment them, because the ratio of performance and consumed electrical power speaks for itself
Full power during rendering
Here, the Ryzen 5 7600 is again very well in the running, whereby the big CPU allows itself an identical energetic load. And now comes the but: both new CPUs are brutally cut off at 90 watts, with the Ryzen 9 7900 performing significantly more!
If you compare power consumption and performance under full load, the picture of the Ryzen 5 7600, which is still so efficient in gaming, completely changes and the Ryzen 9 7900 is the absolute efficiency winner!
