Summary and conclusion
A lot is worth a lot, at least when you consider the price. Corsair’s business risk is that it could do better with the same performance. However, the performance is hardly better, so Corsair may have thought that it would only be fair to generate princely prices and then include a few nice Alko pads as a consolation. Add to that a useful template for the noob and the all-round carefree bundle is complete. If you have any doubts about your own skills, you’ll get really helpful support here, so you have to be fair. It’s also clear that the stencil, swab and pads don’t cost 10 euros. But you can’t easily get something like this in the nearest store and you would have to fall back on something like the X-Apply. Looking at the package, Corsair has actually done everything right, with the paste anyway.
The fact that the Corsair XTM70 Extreme Performance doesn’t quite come close to the Thermalright TF8 is due to its somewhat user-friendly consistency, as the TF8 requires some skill. This is not to say that the Corsair XTM70 Extreme Performance is easy and simple to paint. Those who prefer a blob will certainly have no problems and those who have read the paragraph on burn-in and layer thickness will perhaps simply tighten their cooler a little after around 10 hours of operation.
Personally, I find the paste very successful and would perhaps only swallow it a little harder because of the price. From a purely technical point of view, you can’t complain and buy it without hesitation. I would just leave it at that. I thought about it for a long time, but I’m generally not going to award individual awards for pastes, but rather go for a kind of label, which I’ll later derive from the measurement data in the same way as the Cybenetics power supply ratings. I will test more pastes here before I decide something.
That’s it for this thermal paste test and I’ll soon be moving on. There is a mysterious new paste from Thermal Grizzly, which I will present exclusively with kind permission, and many more, including the real old classics. However, I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate my request for more pastes, because the selection and stock can never be big enough!
