Detailed photos and installation
The pre-installed thumbscrews are spring-loaded and have a finish that I would describe as “gun-metal” in color, similar to the mounting ring, only matte instead of shiny. Along the respective groove, the screws can be moved outwards or inwards with a little pressure to serve the 75 or 78 mm hole spacing of the various Intel sockets.
If we take a look inside the block through the G1/4 threads, we can see the 110 cooling fins. These then ensure the optimum flow of water above the IHS and at a 90 degree angle to the silicon below to dissipate heat as efficiently as possible. In addition to the channels for directing water towards the fins, two small holes can also be seen on either side of the inlet side, which provide pressure equalization and thus overall higher flow through the block.
The cable for the RGB lighting is firmly attached to the block and cannot be easily removed. If we turn the block over once, however, we can immediately see the ring-shaped circuit board with the soldering points. Numerous RGB LEDs then sit on this around the block, which provide the joyful play of colors. A nice detail is the white coloring of the board, which should provide even better reflection of the lighting.
The base plate is made of nickel-plated copper and is connected to the acrylic top part with 10 Torx screws. The surface shows a very fine radial milling around the center of the block, which might also be an indication for a good flatness. The pre-installed thermal paste is alligned 90 degrees rotated to the IHS of Rocket Lake CPUs, but this has no negative impact on performance, I can spoil that much.
The connection cable for the RGB lighting unfortunately protrudes from the block due to its construction, but if you route it directly downwards and then under the block towards the motherboard edge, it can still be hidden quite elegantly. Now fill the loop, start the pump and if you want to do it completely right, tilt the system back and forth a few times until most of the air bubbles have reached the reservoir tank.
