Cooler Master’s new X Silent Edge Platinum PSU will support the GeForce 5090

Although there is still little official information about NVIDIA’s new graphics card, the GeForce 5090, other companies already seem to be making preparations. For example, the new X Silent Edge Platinum Power Supply Unit from Cooler Master will support the GeForce 5090. This information was first announced by X user momomo_US that the product is now available on Amazon.

What can you expect from this new power supply, which will also support the future GeForce 5090? As the name suggests, it is a “silent” power supply unit and comes with a black design. This means that it has no fans and therefore has a fanless design. However, Cooler Master assures that heat dissipation will not suffer thanks to its technology. Specifically, this is thanks to the heatpipe technology and the modular thermal structure, as Cooler Master calls it. It offers ultra-quiet operation and ensures low temperatures for important components.

The heatpipe’s superconducting composite technology is designed to regulate the temperature evenly. The copper-aluminum heat section is said to provide excellent thermal control and longevity in demanding environments. Thanks to an active bridge rectifier equipped with an Infineon CoolMOS, efficiency is to be increased by a full 2 percent. The fanless PSU is also said to score points in terms of power loss compared to normal bridge diodes. Cooler Master describes it as highly efficient and environmentally friendly. The PSU offers an output of 850 watts. The dimensions are said to be 17.98 x 14.99 x 8.59 cm and the weight is 4.5 kg. So the device does weigh quite a bit.

In addition, the PMBus port at server level supports the monitoring of efficiency, fan speed, temperatures, current load and overall performance. The product should be available shortly. The Cooler Master X Silent Edge Platinum PSU will therefore go on sale on August 13, 2024 at a price of 488.31 dollars, which corresponds to around 446.85 euros.

There is also a review of the 1100w platinum x silent edge on hwbuster. It is a good power supply made very well. It also received editors choice from Ariis.
The problem is that for 8 months these xsilent and x mighty power supplies have not existed.

I changed my PSU 2 weeks ago because I wanted to update the power supply a bit and I got an Antec NeoEco NE1300GM for €160, which is identical to the 1st Player NGDP 1300W, and is identical to the Galax Hall of Fame GH1300W and also to the Lian Li edge 1300. All the same OEM Helly Tecnology which also produces platforms for Seasonic.

It has a good review on hwbuster, it is very efficient and above all very small.
In the pictures, Antec 160€ and Galax HOF 450€

In what sense?
Of course, €446, even if it is passive, for a "4.5kg" power supply with significant dimensions that requires an adequate case, is in fact a bit much. It is not a justification if Cooler Master has done everything in-house.

At this point with the CWT-CTT platform always updated but much newer than the ax1500i which is now two years old, the NZXT C1500 atx 3.1 is better.
