Gaming 1080p – Cyberpunk 2077, SoTR, CSGO
In 1080p or FHD, the focus is now even more on CPU and RAM, and in CSGO we can also clearly see the advantages lower latencies can have in some applications. But the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB Kit can also keep up, especially with optimized subtimings.
In Cyberpunk 2077, the DDR4 config is immediately flushed to the bottom again, since bandwidth and latency are in demand here, which the manually optimized DDR5 config handles best. But even the XMP settings of the Dominator Platinum RGB modules are only a few FPS behind.
In SoTR at 1080p the picture is even clearer and with up to 10 FPS at the 1% Low FPS or 12 FPS at the Average FPS the manually optimized config with the modules from today’s test can stand out from the rest. As with CSGO, 2T again slips ahead of 1T in the XMP here, which I didn’t expect to happen. But I’ve countertested this several times and the result has been confirmed, with over 1 FPS difference not really being within measurement tolerance anymore. Again, simply loading the XMP profile of the Corsair modules already gives us a majority of the FPS compared to fully manual tuning.
In terms of frame time variance, CSGO once again clearly shows that in titles with such fast frame rates, the access latencies of the RAM are absolutely critical. But even the DDR5 configurations with a good compromise of throughput and latency can still hold their own in the midfield here.
In Cyberpunk 2077, the frame time variances are mixed, with the DDR5 6000c34 config simultaneously having the most frame times below 2 ms and above 4 ms. The rest of the configurations are nearly identical in terms of outliers above 4 ms, and the differences in Average FPS manifest here in the shift between light and dark green.
As in 1440p, the DDR4 Config can still grab a second close first place in SoTR 1080p, closely followed by the Corsair Dominator modules. Only the slower DDR5 5200c40 configuration can’t quite keep up.
