Installation Report
I had been looking forward to the installation of this system for a long time. White cases are always something special and at least since the Dark Base Pro 901 review, my opinion of BeQuiet! cases has changed a lot for the better. Once again, my AM4 test platform with RTX 3070 Ti is used. The latter was painted by a specialist especially for white builds. I didn’t document this action completely, but I’ll gladly do a small follow-up if you’re interested.
For the optics, there were also a few cable extensions and the approx. 60€ expensive BeQuiet! PCIE riser cable, so that the graphics card can be installed vertically. Cooling is provided by a 280mm BeQuiet! PURE LOOP 2 FX AIO, and the four pre-installed ARGB fans remain in the factory configuration.
I started again with the mounting of the power supply.
The mounting frame from the Shadow Base is equipped with an absorber that is supposed to absorb vibrations from the PSU.
The PSU is also decoupled from the floor thanks to pre-mounted rubber bumpers. It just feels good to position the expensive PSU on such rubbers instead of sliding it over painted sheet metal accompanied by ugly grinding noises, which often leads to scratches and scrapes.
The CPU, RAM and NVME have already been mounted outside the case and then shipped into the case as one unit with the motherboard. The center spacer is designed as a centering pin, which allows the motherboard to be installed comfortably and without fumbling. It’s nice that so many (better) cases now offer this feature.
The next step was to install the AIO and lay the cables at the front. The AIO moved into the lid for visual reasons – positioning it in the front (fresh air intake) reduces the temperature of the CPU by 3-5K.
Taming the cabling behind the scenes is always a pain with so many ARGB fans. However, the Shadow Base offers so much space that you could easily accommodate double and triple the amount of cables.
Last but not least, the riser cable and the graphics card.
All lids closed and the device is ready for its baptism of fire.
Lucky, it glows.
Always a feast for the eyes, such a white system. However, the installed hardware in this huge case almost looks like an ITX system.
Ready for testing!
