Sofware calibration with DisplayCal
Actually, a full calibration does not bring more than what we have seen so far. Because the panel is already very good and needs a maximum adjustment of the D65 (white point). The brightness plays a subordinate role in the end. For the sake of completeness, I calibrated the monitor anyway. But that was a few days ago…
To demonstrate to you the wide gamut suitability, I have done the calibration with an extended test form for P3 / Rec. 2020 measured in SDR.

Uniformity
The viewing angle stability is very good, which is typical for IPS. IPS glowing is visible, but not annoying for me personally. The AU-Optronics panel does have measurable deviations, but it’s not really noticeable and looks consistent to the user.

Image errors
I could not detect anything here. Whether you use an AMD or NVIDIA GPU, it doesn’t matter. There were no picture errors, flickers or other problems even after 2,000 hours of operation. Dead pixels are also not an issue, which is a testament to good quality control at ASUS ROG.
Sound reproduction
The monitor actually comes with built-in speakers. You can also use them in an emergency. To use this, you simply have to use the ROG PG279QM sound output via DisplayPort via the taskbar (works with NVIDIA and AMD). However, the speakers sound rather like a tin can. The low tones (basses) are missing, the installed drivers are too small for that. The volume is kind of ok, could be a bit louder. I could not perceive any scratching, humming or other disturbing noises. It’s like most monitors with integrated speakers, sounds come out. Everything else is usually done with good headphones or a dedicated sound system.
Webcam and microphone
Since the PG279QM has neither a webcam nor a microphone, there is nothing to report here.
