Summary and conclusion
There were two surprises for me with this system: Firstly, that a real desktop CPU with a peak power consumption of 95 watts was not only accommodated here, but also cooled properly. With a good 65 watts of package power in continuous operation, the PB63 is audible, but never disturbingly loud. And secondly, that despite everything, it is not enough for the top spot in our ranking. The results in CPU benchmarks are very strong, but in terms of graphics performance, AMD simply has the edge once again:

And since we’ve had the issue of unwanted pre-installed software several times recently, Asus also ships the system with some of its own programs. You have to decide for yourself which of these are bloatware. However, there is probably only one answer to a penetratingly annoying virus protection.
I use a wireless mouse and keyboard combination from Logitech in my test corner, which is apparently not recognized as such by the PB63. On startup, a message appears for a few seconds stating that no keyboard is connected. Apart from that, I was a little surprised that only a single 16GB RAM bar was installed here instead of 2x 8GB. For systems for private customers, I can understand it even better, because it’s very easy to upgrade to 32GB without having any RAM left over afterwards. However, subsequent upgrading is rather unusual in companies, so the higher bandwidth of two SO-DIMMs would be the better choice.
I would also have expected the Ethernet controller to support Intel vPro from a business series. The price is probably best described as “target group-oriented”. Of course, you shouldn’t forget that you get reliable support and driver and BIOS updates here. The security patches of the various low-cost providers from the Far East often look bleak.
The test sample was provided by Asus without obligation. There was and is no influence on the tests and results. There was also no compensation for expenses and no obligation to publish.
