Another European retailer has listed the new Ryzen 9000 CPUs with provisional prices, although this could also fluctuate between truth and placeholder. As the official launch of the AMD Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” processors on July 31, 2024 approaches, more and more offers and prices are appearing at various retailers. The French retailer PC21.fr has now listed three CPUs from the new series – the Ryzen 5 9600X, Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 9 9900X.
Prices in detail
The PC21.fr entry shows the following prices for the new processors:
- AMDRyzen 5 9600X: 350.60 € (~382 USD)
- AMDRyzen 7 9700X: 454.13 € (~495 USD)
- AMDRyzen 9 9900X: 567.42 € (~618 USD)
These prices include VAT, which is around 20% in France. It is therefore important to note that these prices do not necessarily correspond to AMD’s final recommended retail prices (RRP).
Comparison with previous leaks
Compared to previous leaks, these prices seem higher (and actually more realistic). However, it should be noted that the current offers include VAT. If you calculate this out, you get closer to the prices mentioned in the leaks:
- Ryzen5 9600X: ~300 USD
- Ryzen7 9700X: ~400 USD
- Ryzen 9 9900X: ~490-500 USD
Another point of comparison is the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, which was recently listed on DealTarget for 295.43 USD. This is closer to the prices suggested by leaks, indicating that pricing may vary at different retailers. Earlier leaks had even pegged the price of the 9600X at around $229, but this would be a sizable discrepancy. It is unlikely that AMD would introduce such a drastic price difference from its predecessor (Ryzen 7600X), which launched at $299 USD.
Therefore, it seems more likely that the 9600X will be priced in the range of 279 USD to 299 USD. For the Ryzen 7 9700X, this is the first public listing before the official launch. Even though the processor is already in the hands of some users for testing purposes, there have been no exact details on its price so far. The price history suggests that the 9700X will follow the price level of its predecessor, the Ryzen 7 7700X, and will probably be around 399 USD.
According to PC21.fr, all three CPUs are currently in stock, but only in limited quantities. This is not unusual for the time leading up to an official launch, as retailers often have limited stock before mass availability is secured.
A look at the Ryzen 9 9900X shows that this is the second time this processor has appeared in a retail store. It is also offered at Amazon.nl for €508.49, which is significantly cheaper than the price at PC21.fr. This difference could be due to different VAT regulations or margins of the retailers. It is difficult to say whether the final price of the Ryzen 9900X will be around 499 USD or lower, as the Amazon.nl price also includes VAT.
The current listings and prices of the AMD Ryzen 9000 CPUs offer a first impression of what to expect from the new series. However, the final prices and the market situation at the official launch on July 31, 2024 may still differ. It is advisable to wait for further information and offers before making a purchase decision. The prices that have emerged so far should be viewed with caution as they may not correspond to the final RRP set by AMD.
Another aspect to consider is the market strategies of retailers. Products are often listed before the official launch to generate attention or to secure early pre-orders. These prices can often be speculative and change as soon as the official prices are announced. For consumers looking for a new processor, it therefore remains to be seen how prices will develop after the official launch and what additional offers and discounts will be available. The AMD Ryzen 9000 series promises significant performance gains due to the new Zen 5 architecture, which should make it an attractive option for enthusiasts and professional users.
