CalculiX is based on a free finite element program for three-dimensional structural calculations and relies on a large core team. Tact goes before cache, we already know that.
Convolution is a benchmark for a subarea of functional analysis in which a new, third function is in fact created as the product of two functions (convolution, convolution). Clock and core count scale equally well here. Again, a disadvantage for the X3D, which is a bit more clearly behind here.
The FFTW test shows: The cores are once again in charge. And how.. well, as long as they are well stuffed with energy. However, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D also shows what the right program knows what to do with the huge cache! The Ryzen 7 5800X only sees the backlights here, even though the power consumption is higher.

LAMMPS stands for Large-scale Atomic/Molecular Massively Parallel Simulator and the program is also an Alder Lake domain. And how! All this doesn’t help Ryzen when the compiler seems to have switched to the opposing camp, even if the V-Cache helps the Ryzen 7 5800X3D a bit. However, it is not much.
NAMD is a benchmark for high-performance simulation of large biomolecular systems and the Ryzen 7 5800X is once again ahead of the cache monster with a slightly lower clock.
