Interior structure
The rubber feet on the underside also serve as a tool-free way of accessing the interior. There is a small fan behind the openings in the base, which blows roughly in the direction of the two M.2 slots.
We don’t have many expansion options, despite the large case volume by Mini PC standards, only a second M.2 SSD can be added.
In my sample, 32GB DDR5 RAM from Kingston, model C8056S46BS8HA-16, is installed ex works. The 1TB SSD also comes from Kingston and has the sonorous name OM8SEP41024Q-A0.
The board itself is hidden under all kinds of plastic, but also houses an Intel BE200 WLAN card, which provides the brand new WiFi7 in addition to Bluetooth 5.4. The Realtek RTL8125 Ethernet controller takes care of the wired communication with the aforementioned 2.5 Gigabit.
If you remove four more screws, the cover can also be removed. This reveals an interesting cooler design with two separate rows of cooling fins. The enormous size leads me to believe that the enormous 115 watt power consumption of this processor in Boost is something to be bravely confronted.
