Test system and test preparation
In the first step, I use the usual suspects such as CrystalDiskMark, Atto, AJA and 3DMark Storage Benchmark. Finally, SPECwpc is used, which contains a lot of real applications. Let’s see if you can squeeze real workstation performance out of a QLC. However, I picked out the applications with the biggest differences and loads as examples. I have also summarized the individual components of the test system in a table:

Sequential performance of the unused SSD
Let’s start with the CrystalDiskMark.
After all, we get more here than Kingston advertises. The sequential write rates in particular are significantly higher. What does the ATTO benchmark say?
The Kingston NV3 also performs well here. The write rates are above what is promised. When reading, it doesn’t quite manage the 6000 MB/s. Let’s see what the AJA test does.
It looks a little jittery when writing. Nevertheless, a decent performance for an SSD with only QLC memory – without DRAM. We can now compare this to another SSD: The MSI Spatium M480, for example
The MSI M480 performs better here. It also costs considerably more and has a different target group. I have a small database to better classify the performance of the NV3.
The Kingston NV3 can hold its own quite well among the expensive market competitors. However, I wouldn’t buy the NV3 as my main SSD for such applications. But if you only do this occasionally, the Kingston NV3 won’t let you down. So far, the SSD has not disappointed me, but so far the SSD has also been unused. So let’s give the NV3 a full review.
