Internal structure
The four advertised M.2 slots have to be accommodated somewhere. So the decision was made to use the underside and also install passive heat sinks.
All slots are numbered starting from 0 – programmers will be pleased – and have a clever holding mechanism that enables installation without tools.
Unraid starts from a small USB stick, which is also located here. Incidentally, you can’t get it out of the port without narrow pliers.
Once the two special screws on the back have been removed, the upper part of the housing can be levered open from the front. It is then best to work carefully along both sides. It is really difficult to open the N1 without damaging it.
At this point, you can’t get any further without even more effort, as the board is attached to various small connections and cables. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see that the rear of the processor is passively connected to another heat sink via a thermal pad. There is also an active cooling system with a small fan on the side facing away from the processor.
