Summary and conclusion
The EMEET SmartCam S800 impressed me in many ways, especially with its excellent image quality and the versatility it offers. Thanks to the Sony 1/2-inch sensor, the camera delivers clear and low-noise images even in difficult lighting conditions. Especially in 4K mode at 30 fps, it offers impressive detail, while the 1080p mode at 60 fps enables smooth movements, which is ideal for video conferencing and streaming.
The autofocus function, supported by PDAF and TOF technologies, works quickly and precisely. Even at different distances, the focus is maintained reliably, which is particularly useful for dynamic scenes in the measurement setup. However, I have noticed that at maximum zoom, the image quality becomes slightly pixelated, especially on larger screens. But 4K and 4x zoom? Silly. The integrated EMEETLINK software still has a few small software bugs that affected the experience a little, such as occasional connection issues and a lack of functions to quickly reset certain settings. However, these are minor issues that could be fixed by future updates and that can be regulated directly without the software system.
The two built-in microphones are sufficient for normal video conferencing, although I prefer a separate microphone for more professional recordings. I found the privacy cover particularly positive, as it completely blocks the camera view, which gives me a feeling of security. So the EMEET SmartCam S800 meets my expectations as a webcam for everyday applications, but also for more demanding tasks such as surveillance in TIMA5. The combination of price, performance and robust workmanship makes it a good choice for me, and there’s nothing to complain about.
Apart from the limitation to 30 FPS in Ultra HD, the somewhat clumsy software and the somewhat hot rear end of the camera (I mean that literally!), there’s really nothing to complain about, on the contrary. And because it all works so well and the resources are of course also sufficient for a 4K surveillance video, I’ll just let you watch a bit of thermal paste sticking and tearing off. Here we go…
Conclusion
I don’t want to sound stupid, but the EMEET SmartCam S800 really is worth buying. Crisply sharp, true-color and noiseless images meet a decent microphone and solid workmanship. You can’t expect more from a device like this. Especially not for the price. Plan fulfilled once again and I am satisfied. Then you can look a bit friendlier again and an article has also fallen off at the same time as the installation. Planned efficiency 😀
