Summary and conclusion
The overall performance doesn’t look impressive if you just look at the table, but the difference to the other devices isn’t that big.

The Sharkoon Rebel P20 1200W is a decent power supply that won’t drain your wallet. Considering its specifications and build quality, it is sold at a fair price. It is ATX v3.1 compliant and has a Cybenetics Platinum efficiency rating for both voltage inputs. It also has a Cybenetics Standard noise rating, which means you won’t disturb the neighbors if you push it to the extreme. In fact, up to a load of 690 W, the power supply operates quietly and keeps its noise below 25 dBA, and with a combined load of less than 65 W on the side rails, the noise is less than 10 dBA at up to 690 W at 12 V. Despite the compact dimensions, the fan speed profile is not aggressive, which benefits the large heat sinks Andyson uses to handle the thermal loads. In most modern power supplies, the heat sinks are quite small, requiring aggressive fan speed profiles at high loads.
Load regulation is very good at 12 V, ripple rejection is also good, and transient response of the 12 V rail in ATX v3.1 test scenarios is quite good. The 3.3 V rail needs to be optimized mainly for tighter load regulation and better transient response, but this rail is not heavily used. The average efficiency is high enough; Andyson should increase it to over 70% at 2% load to meet the corresponding ATX specification recommendation. The APFC converter also needs to be optimized for higher PF values, especially at 230V. In addition, the power consumption in standby mode should be less than 0.1 W at the same input voltage.
Overall, the Rebel P20 1200W has a fair price and offers decent performance. Some of you may frown upon the 2-year warranty that Sharkoon offers, but I won’t as I’m tired of the completely unrealistic warranty periods offered by other brands. For this reason, I no longer include the warranty period in my pros and cons lists. Long warranty periods offer more problems than solutions; they ultimately benefit neither the consumer nor the brands that offer them. When you buy a new car, you get a 5-6 year warranty at best, and when you buy a new power supply, you are asking for ten or more years! Since the lifespan of a PC part depends mainly on the quality of the power supply, it’s very easy for a brand to reject your RMA, and for good reason! It’s much better to have normal and non-marketing warranty periods and be treated better, and product prices won’t be affected either.
