First sighting of the RX 8000 graphics card with RDNA4 technology from AMD at Geekbench

The latest AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors have been on the market and available to customers for some time now. But while the new processors are already freely available, many are wondering when the new RX 8000 graphics cards from AMD will be released. According to rumors, these will not be launched on the market until the first half of 2025. However, the first technical leaks have already appeared on Geekbench.

Based on the GPU designation, it can be assumed that this is a graphics card from the RX 8000 series. The designation gfx1201 indicates the Navi 48 variant. As far as the technical data is concerned, the graphics card has 28 compute units and currently achieves a maximum frequency of 2101 MHz, although this is sure to change. The memory capacity is 16 GB.

These indications suggest that initial tests are already underway and it may not be long before official information is released. However, the current benchmark results are rather sobering, as the measured values are well below expectations and can hardly keep up with the current models. This could either indicate problems with benchmarking or that optimizations are still necessary.

Compared to the current RDNA3 generation, the RDNA4 graphics cards should offer a number of innovations and improvements. These include a new ray tracing engine, which should work more smoothly and efficiently to make this technology accessible to more players. In addition, the new RX 8000 series is expected to be equipped with GDDR7 memory.

However, AMD has not yet released any official information on the new graphics cards. It therefore remains to be seen what exactly can be expected, what price range the cards will be in and when the exact release date will be announced by AMD. According to this, the focus will be on performance, efficiency and improved ray tracing. For some gamers, the Navi 48 and Navi 44 graphics cards could be an attractive option.
