Halnziye HY 234 – the affordable one
The HY 234 is the weakest putty in today’s test (which would also make it clear that all these cheap offers on AliExpress & Co. should at least be questioned), but it works and therefore falls into the category “You can do it, but you don’t have to”. If you don’t care about a few degrees and don’t mind the sticky substance, you will certainly be happy here. The putty is no worse than mediocre heat-conducting pads, but it is safer because the correct layer thickness of prefabricated pads is not so important. Everything is fine between 250 µm and 3 mm. But there is also the better brother.
Halnziye HY 236 – the better one
If you don’t mind the pink, the HY 236 is definitely better. The performance is almost as good as the Extreme64, and it’s not as sticky as the HY 234. If you want to buy at a reasonable price, you can’t go wrong with the HY 236. It is just as easy to use as the HY 234, but it is not as sticky and performs much better. If you don’t want the blue putty, just apply the pink one. Works perfectly.
Halnziye HY 268 – the sticky one
Yes, it’s a putty, but somehow it’s not. It’s a sticky paste that is difficult to apply and even more difficult to remove. This is also the reason why I would like to issue a purchase warning here, as the performance does not match the print. You get a putty that is difficult to apply and hardly performs better than the cheaper HY 234
Hardware love Extreme64 – the best
Of course, there are also better solutions, but these are of little interest to private users because they are too expensive. The blue Putty, which I assume is actually a Laird Tputty 607, performs best and is also relatively easy to remove. Only the Honeywell putty pads are actually better, but private users can hardly get hold of them. However, the Halnziye H236 is hot on the heels of the Extreme64.
Summary and conclusion
Only two products make it into my selection: the Halnziye H236 and the Hardwareliebe Extreme64. The performance of both products is almost comparable and you can definitely decide on the price, as long as you can be sure you’re not being sold an HY 234 instead of the similar-looking HY 236. Unfortunately, the outsider has no chance of recognizing this so easily. The Extreme64 is even easier to remove than the HY 236, if that helps anyone.
After today’s test, I would rule out the other two products, the Halnziye HY 268 and the HY 234, even though both still offer acceptable cooling performance.
However, I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate my request for more putties, as the selection and stock can never be large enough. However, please discuss these things in advance via PN to avoid duplicates!
