Asus NUC 14 Pro Mini PC review - The original comes back stronger than ever with a U9-185H

Now the time has finally come, after Asus took over or bought the NUC product range from Intel at the end of last year, we finally have an Asus NUC in our test report. So let’s examine in detail whether and how much of the Intel NUC has remained at Asus. Or have they perhaps made something completely their own and just kept the prominent name?

Packaging and scope of delivery

The rather simple box is quite stylish, and the shimmering silver print on all sides is definitely something to look at.

And it’s not just the paper seal that reminds me of the product packaging of the brand with the bitten apple. At the latest when the box unfolds almost like a flower and presents the contents, I am reminded of the “experience” of unpacking.

It’s not just the box and the system that are kept in bright colors, this color scheme is also used for the accessories.

Included are a combined VESA and wall mount, corresponding screws and an FSP150-AJBU3 power supply unit.

@Tim Kutzner : Danke für den Test! Obwohl der Preis für die jetzt von ASUS fortgeführte NUC Reihe eben auch der NUC Tradition gemäß etwas stolz ist, ist es dennoch schön, daß es weiterhin NUCs gibt die auch NUC heißen.
Zum Test selbst: schon interessant, zu sehen, was der Meteor Lake kann und was man ihm - mit genügend Kühlung - scheinbar auch problemlos zumuten kann. Sieht man hier am Ende, daß Intel die großen Meteor Lakes zumindest am Anfang eben doch für den Einsatz in Desktops ausgelegt hatten, bis Intel es sich anders überlegte?
Frage: wird das dann auch bei ASUS so sein, daß NUCs lange mit Treiber Updates und Ersatzteilen versorgt werden? Denn das war eine Stärke der NUCs.
Abschließend: da ASUS auch Launch Partner für AMDs Strix Point ist, stehen NUCs mit Strix Point bald ins Haus? Wäre schön, und spannend!

So etwas ist ideal für Büromitarbeiter die auch mal vom Homeoffice aus ihre Arbeit verrichten. Was leistet so ein Teil bei z.B. AutoCAD 2D?

Früher waren die NUC‘s absolut geniale HTPC‘s, leider ist das inzwischen nicht mehr der Fall, alleine das kein verbauter IR Adapter mehr dabei ist disqualifiziert die Teile inzwischen…. 😦
