ZimaOS – Part 2

And the dashboard is presented to us for the first time.

A glance at the network overview shows that the two 2.5 GbE LAN connections and WLAN card have been successfully detected.

And even though I don’t have a ZimaCube, my two SSDs have also appeared.

General adjustments can also be made in the general settings.

But first back to the disks, because the RAID can be created there.

Then take a look at the Appstore, which is designed to make it easy to deploy a large number of ready-made Docker containers.

If the desired package is missing, you simply initiate a manual installation.

I’ll try it out here with OpenSpeedTest.

All the relevant fields are filled in by the template, I just have to click on “Install”.

And the container is ready for use and accessible in the network.

A speed test then confirms the correct connection with 2.5 Gigabit in my home network.

ZimaOS is a bit of a “clicky-bunti”, but does a good job depending on your own preferences. If you don’t feel like dealing with Docker, it does all the work for you.

Schickes Teil und ich finde es großartig dass hier solche Systeme samt Software näher beleuchtet werden. Wie schlägt sich denn ZimaOS gegenüber TrueNAS oder Unraid?

Wenn du schreibst, das noch genügend 4Pin-Header auf dem MB vorhanden sind: Hat der Lüfter Standard-Maße und lässt sich tauschen??

@Tim Kutzner : hattest Du Gelegenheit, auch den Stromverbrauch im Idle unter Windows zu messen? Damit hätte sich doch recht schnell klären lassen, ob der hohe Idle Verbrauch im NAS Betrieb ZimaOS geschuldet war, oder das Gerät einfach generell gerne an der Steckdose nuckelt?

Ganz okay eigentlich, Unraid habe ich aber noch nicht ausprobiert.
Man merkt aber, dass zB. TrueNAS einfach schon viel ausgereifter und umfangreicher ist.

Für das, was ZimaOS sein will, funktioniert es aber gut

Sowohl die genauen Maße vom Lüfter als auch den Stromverbrauch unter Windows gibt es gleich noch nachgereicht, sorry!

Habe es mal am Ende ergänzt, liegt tatsächlich an ZimaOS.
In Windows 11 sind es nur 7,3 Watt.
