Look and feel
In terms of looks, the Zowie U2 shines with an inconspicuous black symmetrical design. You won’t find any RGB lighting here. If it weren’t for the logo on the back of the mouse, there would be a great risk of confusion with a standard office mouse. There is not much more to say in terms of appearance. In addition to looks, it’s usually also about weight, and the Zowie is very light at just 60 grams. (This is not a laboratory scale)
The Zowie U2 is mainly aimed at Glaw grip players. Palm grip basically doesn’t work at all, unless you have fairly small hands. Finger-tip works if you have a fairly long thumb. Personally, I have a kind of transitional position between Glaw-Grip and Finger-Tip, so that I can reach the thumb buttons optimally. The ergonomics of the mouse won me over from the very first moment, this mouse fits extremely well in my hand (yes, that’s subjective, but that’s always the case with mice). My ring finger and index finger are well positioned on the right-hand side.
Thanks to its design, the Zowie U2 can do without grip tape or a nylon surface – despite its smooth surface. It doesn’t slip through your fingers. The fact is, for me personally, the Zowie U2 is the best mouse I’ve ever held in my hands. It’s difficult to describe, you really have to feel it for yourself. Let me quote from the BenQ Zowie homepage: “The inward curved design on both sides provides sporty agility in every direction.” I can confirm this and it’s also the main reason why the mouse feels so great in the hand.
Software
BenQ has completely dispensed with software here, presumably this is not even permitted in tournaments. All functions such as key response time, LOD, motion sync etc. can be activated/deactivated using various key combinations. Everything is described in the package insert.
Latencies
As you know, BenQ is one of the biggest suppliers for eSports events, where every millisecond counts. I was therefore extremely curious to see whether the Zowie U2 would be at the forefront when it came to E2E latency. The first thing I did was to validate my test setup by measuring the ASUS ROG Charkram Core again.

It’s always amazing that the result is exactly the same every time. That’s why I will guard the reference mouse like the apple of my eye! And now let’s see how the BenQ Zowie with cable and the two wireless connections can hold its own here.
For your information: Motion Sync was active, which I can only recommend to everyone. I have a video for you (see below), because unfortunately I can’t measure everything and my colleague does a really good job here. Credit where credit is due!
Comparison of Zowie U2 with and without cable (key response time normal vs. fast)
With the dongle, the Zowie U2 is approx. 3 ms slower, which is not the end of the world. It should also be noted that the button response time should definitely be set to Fast. The bounce or de-bounce time is the problem in the end, the buttons used prevent a significantly better placement.
Unfortunately, the Zowie U2 cannot claim the title of the fastest mouse in Mexico. The bottom line is that it is around 4 to 5 ms slower than the other mice I tested. BenQ still has room for improvement in terms of latency via the dongle and the buttons (bounce/de-bounce time). Please understand that this does not mean that the Zowie U2 is not a good eSports mouse!
Then let’s listen to the sound of the buttons and then I’ll come to today’s conclusion.
