It’s been a few moons since I’ve looked at a keyboard. This is mainly due to the fact that I generally value low-profile keyboards. Not in the sense of a Corsair K100 with a laptop-thin design, but in the sense of the well-known Sharkoon PureWriter RGB or the TKL version of the PureWriter. See the article from 2017:
Sharkoon PureWriter TKL: Flat, space-saving and mechanically flawless
I’m certainly not the classic keyboard reviewer who taps on everything until my fingers bleed. But today it’s that time again, the Sharkoon PureWriter W65 has taken its place on my desk. The very small sister of the Sharkoon PureWriter RGB comes with a 65 percent layout and is a low-profile keyboard just the way I like it.
Packaging and scope of delivery
The packaging is basically pure cardboard and can go straight into the blue garbage can if necessary – very commendable. Depending on your own preference, you can choose between a black or white keyboard. I have the black version with red (linear) buttons.
The scope of delivery includes the keyboard, the dongle and a USB-C to USB-A cable (1.8 meters). The cable is sleeved and shaped like a spiral, making it a real eye-catcher on the desk. The workmanship not only feels high-quality, it actually is. An aluminum frame forms the base for the keyboard. A plastic cover is used on the base, which houses both the fold-out feet and the dongle. The keyboard weighs just 432 grams without the cable and is therefore approx. 70 grams lighter than the PureWriter TKL. After all!
