The earbuds
The buds are made almost entirely of normal plastic on the outside, even the metallic-looking back is not metal, but organic art.
The grilles above the drivers, on the other hand, are made of high-strength chrome-nickel steel.
The contacts for charging are interesting because they are not gold-plated contacts, as you might expect from the yellowish color, but copper contacts with a wafer-thin platinum coating. As this is really only thin, the slight yellow coloration and the hasty conclusion that it must be gold. But this is not the case.
The same optical game of hide-and-seek can also be found in the charging cradle, because these contacts are also platinum-plated copper and not gold. This is not inferior per se and I don’t understand why the marketing didn’t exploit this further.
The locking cross on the charging cradle is normal cast zinc with an electroplated surface treatment.
The base of the charging cradle is obviously made of coated, solid copper, and that really amazed me, because even after about 10 µm, nothing else can be found when laser drilling. Hats off, that was not to be expected. It doesn’t really matter, but it’s nice and cool to the touch.
There are no more secrets to the material, so let’s move on to the finer things in life.
