Visible defects and irreversible deformations
However, there are also headers where only several pins are burnt (both outside AND inside), and where the housing, in contrast, still appears relatively undeformed. In the following image, which is exemplary for the third pile of similar damage patterns, the pins and through-holes are heavily damaged, but the exterior is not.
This is also visible on the bottom, where only the locking mechanism has a melt damage, but the rest (apart from the visible thermal traces of stress in the material) is still relatively smooth.
For this as well, I made another profile picture which illustrates this quite well.
Now let’s move on to the total loss with a total of six burnt pins. Here, the housing also suffered a bit, but the thermal overload was not concentrated on one or just a few pins, but on all, and to the same extent. That’s why the interior of all pins is more or less gone, but you can see that even the shape of the individual sleeves on the surface is still quite well preserved.
Here, under the connector, the plastic has also bulged out in bubble-like shapes. We can skip the profile; we’ve seen something similar before.
