Then get to work on the components so that printing doesn’t have to wait much longer. By the way, the assembly instructions are well illustrated and clear, but Elegoo also provides a video:
So get the instruction medium of choice ready and get all the parts out of the box. If I noticed something during the respective work steps, I’ll add this thought right away.
We start with the base, perhaps removing the magnetic printing surface for assembly.
Thankfully, the X-axis and extruder are already pre-assembled, so the gantry can be directly connected to the base in the first step with a total of four large M5x45 screws.
Again, my tip: Simply place the gantry overhanging on a tabletop, then you can easily reach the holes and don’t have to tilt the printer and hold everything at the same time. It is best to first tighten one screw per side slightly, then tighten it completely on both sides alternately.
Then use three M4x20 screws to attach the touchscreen holder to the right side.
We can then connect it directly. By the way, magnets keep it in place, so fortunately it doesn’t just lie there.
With two more M4x20 the first part of the filament holder is attached to the connector on top of the printer. Since the holder sits in the middle, a filament roll will always sit slightly offset on the printer.
Then still attached the bracket itself and the filament sensor. Threads on the right side suggest that both could be attached on the other side, but this is prevented by the cable being too short. However, you could print a second holder and then have at least two rolls of filament directly at the printer.
The sheathed strand of cable must then be tamed, preferably with the holder provided for this purpose above the X-axis stepper motor.
Now we come to the obvious special feature of this printer, the component cooling at the extrusion of the X-axis. It is attached with three M4x45 screws and has something brutal about it, doesn’t it?
The 24 Volt power supply for the fans still connected and the ribbon cable to the extruder, the various stepper motors also not forgotten! Finally, double check that the correct voltage for the power supply is set under the Y-motor.
Even if you don’t have any previous knowledge, the assembly of the Neptune 4 should be no problem and can be done in less than half an hour.
